Sending the love

‘Sending The Love Locally’ is a concept that has helped establish the Green Garage as something more than just another store. “From the moment we opened the doors the Byron community have given us the most amazing support. We wanted to return the favour, “ said Green Garage General Manager Shaun Crilley.

With over 250 local products in the store at any one time, the Garage already had that covered. Everyone who works at the store is a local. Tick that one off. The short and long of it is the crew behind the Green Garage wanted to do more. And they have.

• Every Wednesday, since we opened in May 2004 the Green crew have supported the local Homeless Breakfast.
• A small donation is collected every time a plastic bag is used to carry shopping home. The donation is then given to local environmental groups who do wonderful things planting, rejuvenating and cleaning up the local area.
• The Green Garage also support many local schools and preschools, providing raffle prizes, food and often invite the youngsters to spend some time with us playing in our worm farm.

Our love also spreads out beyond the local community. African Leaf Inc., which started in Byron Bay to Love, Educate and Feed orphaned, abandoned, vulnerable and abused children in Kenya has become a driving force for us and is our major international charity. By shopping at the Green Garage you can help us help them.

There are many exciting ideas still in the process of being implemented so keep your eyes open for our “ Sending The Love Locally’ concept. It is only getting bigger and better.
